"new" losi Xcelorin 1700kv

I had the "old design" motor for I think 1,5 years, or longer. I just loved the performance, but it needed a fan, like that the temperatures were ok all the time. The screws were a problem, so I changed them. I've geared it pretty "long", and the motor performed great. the front bearing is massive and has a standard size, so replacement (8-16-5mm) is easy to get. using m4-screws for mounting the motor also makes really sense. I don't know why other manufacturers don't have such good ideas...

I don't understand why people still go for that boring 2200kv standard cc stuff... they fear that a 1700kv motor hasn't enough power. that's not true, the 1700 offers plenty of torque, which is fun to drive.

the only problem was sand getting inside, so in the end that damaged the kevlar bonding. I have sealed the front endbell, and I've put some super-glue on the (already damaged) kevlar bonding, that worked for another 6 months. then, finally, the bonding was fu...ed. I got a replacement, that's the motor pictured above (with the black carbon-fiber bonding).

at that time, I had changed to a heavy weight truggy, and finally sold the losi, as the heavy truck required a medusa 3680-1600.

so my conclusion is: if you seal the motor-holes to keep the motor clean, a great motor for a buggy and truggys, up to 4,5 kg I would say (my truggy-type of buggy was 4.3kg). I would buy that motor again.
