While I agree it might not have been the best comment but I can understand the sentiment behind it. My work takes me into schools, some with shall we say, a large minority population. Its disturbing how many of these youths seem to think they can do well for themselves without an education and/or very little, to no effort in any way. Dreams of living it up while rapping, playing a sport or hanging on the corner slinging drugs are very prevelant. Working on their education or working in general sadly are not. I'm not racist and I'm not saying this is everyone's attitude in these schools I visit, but they are in significant numbers.

that kid is gonna be HUGE.
|
The reason this kid has the potential to be huge isn't because of his ability to rap. Its his creativity. A person who says "give me a phat beat" and can spit some rhymes is a dime a dozen. This kid shows creativity and some potential in coming up with his own beats as well as his own raps. Thats important because its cuts down on the amount of producing involved and thus cost. Even if you don't end up seeing this kid performing, I wouldn't doubt it if he ends up working in the recording industry as a producer, writer, composer, etc as he seems to have that kind of talent as well.

I'll see if someone my cousin's cousin knows can have a look at him. If anyone wants to know who she is, here you go (Her name is Danielle Abreu): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur8w7WcziMQ.

I played drums from 10-22. This guy does have some serious talent. I just fear all he knows is rap and one beat and he will be a "one trick pony".
What am I saying? This is the next Kanye

But what does she have to do with this thread, about a kid with some serious talent? Am I missing something here?

Like I said, he has 30-40 YouTube videos, all of them with different beats...and he may "know" more than rap, but I am sure all he "wants to do" is rap...that's what rappers do, they rap.

A- Dwight mentioned this kid was already being looked at by 4 or 5 producers. Lutach mentioned he had a talented cousin with ties to Russell Simmons, and that if he could he would mention this kid to her.
B - I watched like 10 seconds of two other videos. Yes they are technically different beats. The notes are arranged differently, but it is clearly the same style and really doesn't deviate that far from any rap beat. I said what I said because what I consider to be a good musician has a love of all kinds of music, and has been exposed to different music styles throughout their life. If all you know and live is rap, than that is all you can possibly do. I just like to see a more well rounded musician, and am disgusted by todays music.
It's all electronic beat, autotune, hook. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Even his rap could be better if he had a wide base of musical knowledge to draw from. If you didn't know, rappers rap. It's what they do. I'm still afeared this cat is a one trick pony

^^ I know what you mean, I only watched a couple of vids, all with the pens. But at the same time it's his signature thing so it's kinda expected at this stage. Who knows what he's capable of with some time, experience, opportunity and guidance.

I wouldn't mind being a 1-trick pony rapper, where all I could do was rap, because they make multi-millions of dollars! So...yea, I'd be a 1-trick rapper!

A little early in his life to prejudge don't you think? Lots of folk make a living doing things that could be considered menial. Jugglers, magicians, singers, dancers, actors, artist......you know the stuff that gay people do. JK.

Interesting but nothing I haven't seen before. I went to a school were I was the minority being white and saw kids doing this all day long.
No matter if he makes it in rap or not it's still wise to get an education. How many rappers stories (and musician's at that) have you heard were they lose all their money because they don't no how to manage it? Case in point is Mike Jones who used to live a few floors above my parents in their condo. Nice guy, but couldn't manage his money and is starting to have serious financial trouble.

He's 17 and still in school, so he IS getting his education...and who's to say that he won't go to college, you just never know. I think you are being a little too judgmental on him for two reasons; his race, and his choice in music style. Maybe you don't like his race, maybe you don't like rap, maybe you don't like either...I don't know, but you are stereo-typing him without even knowing a thing about him.
I posted this because the kid has got major talent and skills, and I wanted others to check him out...that's it. Why did you have to turn it into a racist/education thing?
And I hate to break it to you, but rap is the #1 genre of music right now, as well as the highest paying genre of music. If this kid decides to pursue a career in music, that's his choice, his decision, his right...not yours.
And if you look at all the rappers, there have been very few who have made bad financial decisions, the rest are multi-millionaires, with interests in everything you can think of...performing, producing, writing, clothing, jewelry, shoes, miscellaneous apparel, restaurants, sports teams, racing teams, and much more.
Now, unless you have something to say strictly about his talent, positive or negative, please don't reply.
