Altered's Stampede Project - 06.29.2010, 09:58 PM

Hey guys kinda new here to the forums but I have a Stampede project that I wanted to post up. It used to be a Slash but I really missed my Stampede so I decided to convert it back. Then the FLM bug struck me, I have had products from them on both my Maxx and Savvy so I knew the quality of the parts.

Well I made a order through Mike and my parts were here in 3 days, I actually had to pick up the bulkhead from another shop because it was not in stock. Anyways enough with the chit chat, I hope you like the pics

Thanks bro I was wonderin how this wheel and tire combo was going to look once I was able to get them mounted. I actually love it, kinda has a scale feel to it. Might have to try this out on my scale build just to see how it looks. I am already looking for another cheap pede...lol

It does look scale. Is the extended or regular lenght chassis?

Well my camera took a crap, well the batteries died. I wanted to get some pics before I ran out of sun so I used my cell phone. I am now officially taking the plunge into lipos with my very first lipo pack

Looks right at home in the FLM chassis:

Makes me not want to paint the body now....lol

That's the best looking stampede i've seen. Could you provide a link to the wheels and tires and explain how you mounted them? Thanks!

The wheels are the JConcepts Tense 2.2/3.0 wheels, the tires are HPI Maxxis Trepador tires. I didn't know they were scaled after 1:1 tires until now...lol. Learn something new everyday.

Started to get the body prepped for paint and put on the window masks. I am thinking that I will chrome the grill and toolbox and leave the bed clear. Other than that started to mask off a few lines then I had some other things to take care of today...hopefully will get to do more on it tomorrow. Here is the start of the paint work.......

Well I ran out of daylight today when it was time to spray so it made it a little more difficult to see the colors, plus I haven't done this in a while. Anyways I used faskolor and spazstix paints, then the one area that I used tamiya paint.....well lets say I wasn't at all happy with it. Lesson learned. There were some bleed throughs but hey all in all I think it came out good.....just a little rusty

I'll try to get some daytime pics tomorrow but for now these will do.

Looks great ! I love well done non-symetrical paint jobs.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

Great looking truck and paint job. Eventually, treat all that FLM to a better esc and motor.....a Tekin sensored set up would be really sweet

Yeah I am not one to do a symetrical paint job, I think they lack character. I am actually having fun with this combo, mind you it is my first time with a BL and Lipos. I am not looking for insane speed, I just want a little but controllable chaos....lol.

Well then, for your first set up well done. You will find that those motors are not the greatest. When you do upgrade many of us around here feel that putting more motor than is needed in the vehicle helps tremendously....especially if you are bashing which can be harder on electronics than racing. It gives you more gearing options, helps keep temps down as well.
