Thom, I did grind a small flat spot on the shaft. For dust protection I'll wire tie one of these Outerwear filters to the rear of the motor. http://www.outerwears.com/proddetail...9290&cat=12439

The Outerwears mesh lets air flow but really keeps the junk out. I've used them on a lot of motors and they work well.
Sorry to hear about the 2230 size problem. I've sent Steve Neu a few e-mails asking him to update the 22XX sizes on his page, but nothing yet.

Did you do it with a Dremel? I am worried about getting it even. If you could post a close up pic of it that would be great!

As for the Outerwears that is a great idea. I did have a look at their Electric motor prefilters but they are far too small for the larger Neu and Lehner motors.

Let me know if you get an answer from Steven Neu on the size btw. Does your 2220 length match those from the chart?

My motors - 07.08.2010, 02:38 AM

Here is the motors I'll be testing. Still waiting for batteries so no telling how long I have to wait until I get to try them out.

Have you figured out a way to fit the 2230?

Only way I can see is to dremel away some of the area highlighted in the attached picture. If anyone has another approach please let me know!

I'd ask Monster Mike to make a custom side peice. (the peice that interferes with the motor)

I believe dremeling the highlighted area will sacrifice structural integrity.

Having a side peice available for 2230's seems like a good idea?

If Mike take custom orders I'd love to buy two side pieces that could accommodate large engines. I have to also take the outermost part of the connectors on the Lehner to make room for it.

Mike - do you do custom jobs? If so please let me know and we can arrange something.

Looks like its in there now - whats the issue? Motor wire attachement? Have you tried rotating the can to see if you can get the wires into a better position?

The images I posted earlier with the motor just placed (not attached yet) is of the 2215 and not the 2230 which is the real issue.

This is why I would like to know if Mike takes custom orders. I don't mind paying more as long as it works properly.
