9L vs 9XL vs 8XL

I switched from the 9L on 14cells to a 7XL on 14-16cells. Man, lets just say it really woke up with the 7XL. It runs a little hot, around 150 on average, but its safe and thats on 16cells with a 12lb truck. I'd say the 8XL would have probably been better for me.

No offense to anyone, as I have asked similar questions, but would it be useful to have a sticky showing recommended motor/ESC/battery/gearing combinations for the most common setups and/or weight? There are a lot of posts are "which motor for X truck?". Of course some people have different goals (max speed vs pure power) and equipment, but it could be used more for newbies that have no clue but just want something that will work and not overheat yet still have good power and speed. I know it could become quite complex to do, but it might be worth it. Having some sort of guide would also help people make a better decision right off the bat rather than get something that won't work and they won't be happy with it - resulting in possible lost future sales for Mike. :)
