Today my dreams came true - 02.24.2006, 01:58 AM

Well, I've always loved and wanted to have the original American racing buggy. Well, today my dream came true...

A package came in the mail today:

Behold, the gold tub in all its glory! ALL ORIGINAL!!!!

Here it is next to the cutting edge in technology, the Factory Team B4:

My plans are to restore this thing with mainly parts available back then. But, I want to get the RPM stealth conversion, the MIP BB steering kit, a T3 slipper clutch, and bearings throughout. Also, I'll be getting a Tekin G10 for this and maybe a Orion V2 19t element to power it.

I hope the guy that traded it doesn't miss this piece of history too much, because I'm in love with it!

WOW..... I remember really wanting one of those also. That brings back memories. That gold tub is still good looking even today. I like your plan too, although I don't know if I would have the heart to do more that some light street driving with it. Keep us posted and enjoy.

I am not sure if I would put it on the shelf. I wouldn't go out and bash it like a newer replacible one. I think it is cool. Take care of it.

Peace!

Thats just me - put her on the shelf and see how much she's worth in the future. I have a friend of mine that has the entire Tamiya R/C collection. All of them - Talk about money - was offered 400,000 for the entire collection - said he wants 650,000 - on my shelf she would go...:027:

Man, that's crazy. I'm gonna assume that all the boxes are still factory sealed. RC cars are not something I would think of as a wise investment but maybe I should add some to my IRA. :032:

Thanks guys. I new some people would appreciate it's awesomesness!

It's a little slow right now and it's steering has quite a bit of slop, but that all should go away once I get the newer tranny, bearings, and steering rack.

The only time this will see the shelf is when batteries are charging, but it won't be a "bash the crap out of it until it dies" car either. I'll be getting a HPI Baja Bug body for it and it will serve as a sand basher and casual racer.

Yea - i would of taken 400 also - but he has EvErY OnE. The offer was from a fellow in Japan - if i remember correctly - . He really dosent wanna sell them though( His wife would love it ). When he got the offer he got kinda mad - and wouldnt even entertain the bid - Told him to get serious and get back to him.. He is a TOTAL rc-nut, and he will probably never sell. He has all of them in the boxes sealed. So when you think that your the biggest knucklehead about these rc's. Rest assured - there is one that is bigger.
