lol, I think it's rather ironic that the title is spelled wrong given the topic.

Yea it is the one thing we cannot edit once we submit the first post in a thread. I saw it, but too late. Any chance you can edit?

Our oldest son now 26 just got himself into the University of Hawaii, and he started classes two weeks ago. He was born in Hawaii when I was posted there with the US Navy, so he gets all of the state benefits. The state paid for all of his tuition, put him up in a hotel on Whikiki Beach for two years, and he received grants to pay for books and whatever else he needs. The only thing he has to worry about is making enough money to eat. He has classes Monday and Thursday, and the rest of the week is open for his own schedule. He is a surfer as well. What a life?

Aaaahhhh... - 08.29.2010, 07:29 PM

Relief. My headache is gone. My kids just left for the day for their first day at school. All three of them are in Jr High/middle school this year. It is nice to have the house to myself for the daylight hours again. Soon I will have to go back to work, but I think I will enjoy the peace and quiet for a few days first. My days belong to me until dinner time. Life is good. Our five older children are all grown up now and going to schools all over the USA. We are so proud of each of them.

We went to a community gathering for kids going to our DOD school, and some of the parents were talking about how they hate driving their kids to school because of the traffic issues. Even high schoolers. Our housing areas are like 200 yards from the campus. I told all of them to stop driving their kids to school and let them walk. It is a great way for them to socialize with their friends on the way to school, and it is good exercise for them. They were apauled at the thought of having their kids walk to school. How do parents expect their kids to ever grow up and take care of themselves if they keep spoiling them like baby's? They looked at me like I was a criminal. Then they wonder why their kids become so demanding about what they believe they are entitled to in life. Some parents really do need classes on teaching their kids self awareness, self esteem, and properly taking care of their own business.

Done. I wasn't sure you didn't do it on purpose, so I had left it.

Thanks - 08.29.2010, 08:59 PM

Thanks BG. Being a mechanic by trade spelling has never been my strong asset. English was never a favorite subject for me while in school, but I can speak clearly and my meanings are always understood. Thats what counts. Its nice to know that there are guys in here to keep us on the straight and narrows though. James has hit me up a few times with spelling issues. He likes hammering people for improper spelling and embarrassing them. Oh well thats what I get for not caring about english class back in the day. Too late for me to learn new tricks now. I just don't care that much.
