1527 in a 1/5 scale car - 08.30.2010, 10:44 AM

I am in the process of converting a 1/5 scale onroad car to brushless. Mocked up this car weighs ROUGHLY 22 lbs. with 8 cells. Is it possible that I can get away with running a 1527 Nue motor? Is a 22xx series the only motor for the 1/5 scales? Thanks

At a low KV, I think even the 1515 series could handle an onroad car. But the 1527 has been used in offroad cars at that weight, so it will definately work in an onroad car as well. Just gear conservatively and get the right KV value.

I'm running a Neu 1527 1.5y (825kv) in a 19lb. 4wd offroad buggy on 8s geared for 50mph. I get max temps in the range of 160-165F (on 90F summer days). As far as I'm concerned, its the perfect motor for mine:
