I am really glad that you and your family are ok. It's amazing that the kids almost slept through it Good luck with the clean up and I hope that everything gets back to normal as soon as possible for you guys.
Thanks for the good wishes everyone. We are truly grateful for the way things turned out. We are even more furtunate than some of the others here. Our power was only down for 14 hours, and we live in one compound that has about 30 houses. Only 4 of us have power right now, because some of the power lines have been severed, and will not be repared until today or tomorrow. The tree in our backyard fell and damaged some of our cabling on the back of our house, but not the power lines or fiber optic internet lines. Clean up starts today, and just in time for the labor day celebrations which will begin tomorrow/Saturday. We feel very lucky indeed.
Well we just returned from an Embassy gathering, which was put together because 90% of our community was told today that their power was going to be out for at least 7 days while all of the tree clearing and repairs are taking place. Most of them opted to get hotel rooms, and we took all kinds of jovial heckling being called the electifying couple, because we have power at our house. Everyone is saying that they will gather around our house Saturday night to watch the lights like it was a Christmas special. One guy told me that he got a shock just sitting close to us. Very fun evening for us. Nice to have all of the esentials of home, A/C, TV, Video, Internet, and most of all hot water for showers. Plus allot of them lost $$$$ worth of frozen foods because we stock up and keep our grocery trips to a minimum. I felt so bad for all of them, so we left early so we could come home to cool off telling them that it was getting too hot at the Embassy club.
