Novak or Tekin motor for slash 4x4? -
09.12.2010, 07:44 PM
Looking at one of the 2 for my daughter's truck...I will be using a mmpro esc. I want a sensored set up hence the two motors listed. She will be running 2s and when I drive 3s. I know with Tekin you can chose rotor size..12, 13, 14mm etc. If I go Tekin, I am thinking of the bigger rotor just for more torque, cooler temps and just stronger in general.
I know little to nothing of the novak motors so any help would be appreciated
Any other comments suggestions would be appreciated
thanks,
Brian

I would skip the standard line of motors and get something that will handle the extra weight and load better like the Novak HV motor or the Tekin SC motors. A standard 540 sized motor gets pretty warm just pushing a 2wd SC truck at race speeds so I can only omagine how hot they would get in a 4x4

Kids??? -

Yea especially where kids are concerned. When putting together a setup for a novis kid you want to make sure you start out with something beefy so they will find it hard to kill it too quickly. You don't want to spend all of your time repairing it, and you want them to actually have time to enjoy the toy. Have fun and good luck with that.

I agree, stick with that route, a kid doesn't need that much power. It will just result in more breakages and less fun

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

thanks for all the responses guys. I really want a sensored set up as I may race it once in a while as well...however, I really like the New Tekin SC4 motors, but I may have to wait until Christmas before they actually come out. We shall see

which you get i suggest a 6.5 hv or scx4 motor, should be around 3300 kv which works great on 2s for racing and on 3s for playing the lower kv also leaves more gearing options open.
