So some truggies use the same size dogbones as a Flux? They are 11mm ball ends.

So what we would need are some nice cheap truggy axles and 17mm hex hubs that can handle the power. Axles should have dimemsions of 8mm diameter axle with cup to take 11mm ball from dogbone and hex hub pin hole about 14mm from the back of the cup.

could be used in a savage so that 'normal' 17mm mounts like the ones on the Vorza could be used. I haven't seen reports from anyone who has actually tried it though.

I don't have much trouble with the stock Flux nuts but the proper 17mm nuts would be easier to work with i think. Anyone know if there are other off the shelf solutions other than the Integy one? The Integy ones look to come in a variety of offsets too which could be handy.

Looks like it adds a bit of offset. Bit pricey compared to the other Integy ones with larger offsets.

I love the way that looks. Seems pretty stiff with no play, and it looks like it belongs on there. I have some other maufacturers adapters, but I will have to try a set of these as well for comparison.

Yup just ordered a set today. Integy has some other adapters with a wider offset but these look beefier a lot beefier.

On a side note I just rounded all my lock nuts on the Flux and ruined 2 of my 8mm hex drivers trying to get them off. Another reason why I need to go 17mm. Anybody have an idea how I can get these lock nuts off without damaging my wheels or axle?

VICEGRIPS OR SOME SORT OF PROFESSIONAL NUT REMOVER. There are several options available and if you are a serious hobbyist I would have a few options in ones toolbox. I keep various forms of stud and nut removers on hand, because this hobby always has its challenges.

Do you have a link to those nut removers? Looks like I'll buy some small vices tonight. My larger vices wouldnt fit onto it without hitting my wheels.

There are many options to chose from depending on the size of bolt, nut, stud. You can also dig deeper and find miniature tools for very small hardware, but some of these work just fine for my Maxx trucks.

Well I got the nuts removed I went to Home Depot and bought $120 in tools. Managed to remove 2 nuts with a new hex driver and the other 2 with the nut remover. I'm returning the rest of the impulse buy tools tomorrow. Too bad the nut removers came in a whole kit that cost almost $60... and there's only 1 size I can use for RCs. Oh well.

My Integy adapters are coming tomorrow, if not the day after. I'll get some pics up and see what the + and - are about it and measure the offset. Hopefully there's no slop with these on. We'll see.

wow those actually look like real good quality from integy!

I was just thinking though that when installed, it is pushed up agsint the end part of teh bearing... does it offer any restriction or friction when turning? or is the centre of the bearing not in contact wth the hex?
These seem like a much better idea than the XL Axles!
do these fit onto stock axles or xl axles?

Should be for the stock Flux axles. Hopefully I didnt miss anything in that thread because now I cant find it. I'm sure the spacing between the bearing shouldn't be an issue. We'll find out soon enough though

Given that they have been around for a while now I would expect that there is either a gap between the two or a raised lip that presses on the inner race just like so many of the others are designed to do. From the looks of that pic they will work just fine, and hold up better than what I have seen previously. Let us know how it works out once you have them in hand and installed on your rig.

OK guys, here ya go:






So these guys fit great! There is maybe a .75mm space between the bearing and the adapter but it spins with no binding. They feel pretty solid. It does add 10mm offset on each side, which was nice. What I didn't like was the color. They look like gunmetal in the pictures. In reality its a nasty metallic green with a rainbow shine. You just can't tell from the pictures. Kinda looks like stainless steel thats been exposed to extreme heat. With the barrel nuts locked in it doesnt fit flush with the end of the adapter. My chassis doesnt get here until next week and I still dont have a motor mount so it'll be a few days before I can actually put it through the tests.

BTW any idea where the rubber rings go?

Just as I suspected the adapter has a small raised edge that can ride on the inner raise of the bearing if it touches at all. Looks good from the pics, and where you have the "O"-ring looks to be where it should be mounted. Kind of a slight buffer for the wheel to snug the fit when it is tightened up. The color only matters when you have the wheels off anyway since the wheels cover the adapter. Get a little mud on it and you won't notice.

I was thinking about getting a set of the closed hex nuts like ala buggies/truggies but the barrel nut doesnt sit flush with the top of the hex hub so it may not screw on properly. I also noticed there is about 1.25mm of in/out play so I may have to shim behind the pin as well.
