I would get the biggest motor possible, either the 1520 or the 1717 and run them on 5 or 6s. (6S preferrably.) The 2200kv 1515 size and the 1518 work well too, but for the price I would get the strongest and most rubust motor to start with.

KD products are not of particularly high quality IMO after owning a few. I can't see the plastic gears of the direct drive kit holding up to too much power. I would either keep the tranny and use the HD gears as neccessary, or just go to a center diff setup.

I prefer take a 2000Kv (xerun) and a 1600Kv to test them instead of a 1600Kv and a 1800Kv

Ok, thanks Finnster

So you say that i should buy the biggest motor possible but i hesitate between the 1717 and the 1520.

I used HD gears in the gear box of my savage flux and they are not really resistants...

Also i will run in 6s or 4s it will depends.

I don't like plastic gear in the KD's direct drive at all (as you Finnster).
