I have no idea what the old firehammer axles look like. I googled it and the picture showed an axle which looked a lot longer than these and had a threaded tip, not to mention no hole for a pin to go through. Can you link me?

Those axles probably wouldn't have the cup size to suit the SHD Flux bones.

Why not? I am using them on a 3906 EMaxx right now. I wanted a set of axles with some beef to them to avoid breakage in a very heavy duty setup, so I got a full set of these 8mm stubs and modified them to fit the Max knuckles runing them with dogbones. The thing is once you go beefy on one part of the drivetrain, then you have to go down the line and beef up every other part to that line in order to creat a bullitproof truck.

No you are correct. I drilled a hole for the pin, and then cut off the threaded part of the stubshaft with my dremel tool. Then I installed a set of HPI 17mm adapters so they can push the Axial beadlock wheels. They work perfectly.

The Flux dog bones have an 11mm ball. I don't think there is a detachable cup you can buy in that size?

Not sure about the exact measurement, but those are HPI super heavy duty removeable cups with 8mm center holes. I would have to get out the calipers and measure the ball size when I have a chance to verify that for you.

The SHD axles are larger than std dogbones on the ball end. "Normal" ends are ~8mm. Those cups on there look like the normal size bones imo.

I think the removable cup joints for the flux are just normal sized compared to the actual stub axles which use the 11mm cup

Yes, the Flux and XL both use 11mm cups on the diffs and on the axles.

Nope, they are too big. They are 12mm. And the cup size is 15mm.

Well, I thought so but wanted to get a verification. Anyway, I just went the ridiculous expensive "5T axles" route and ordered from here due to the MUCH cheaper shipping costs than wheelspin. At least I get a lil' piece of mind that my axles should not collapse in a cartwheel or miss-landed jump. We'll see.

Did you ever get your 5T axles? I have some spacers you might want to make the adapter fit perfectly on the axle.


BTW, I never did get a chance to show what the finished project looked like so here it is:






Went with the Silverado body which I've used on a bunch of my other MTs. Looks a little short. I might have to get a F650 later on. The 5T axles are holding up although I've barely flipped this thing over once I had the suspension tuned in.

What were the exact dimensions of those spacers? 3/16" spacers (3.57mm) wide and 8mm inside diameter? outside diameter?

Well, I just received them on Friday. These things are quite heavy which is promising in terms of stability! Now I'm waiting for the rest of my Savage to show up, especially on the Cen Diffs, the 2x CC1520 (Got a CC1717 already but could not resist the black friday sale :) ), Trenchers and my DB XL Tvps.

Yes, I know I need this spacers. Already wrote the guys at the website you posted concerning a quote for max. 10 spacers + shipping. I just don't need 25 pieces which is the smallest quantity they offer. But if you have some spacers lying around which you don't need that would be awesome & I get my PayPal ready!

btw Your truck looks fantastic, but I didn't expect anyrhing else from you!
