Hey metal man what lipo cell count would work well with a xl3100 on a pede. Iwas thinking a 3s but was leaning to a 4s lipo. Sorry to hijack hippie.
Peace!

i would go for 3s. if you dont have the xl3100 yet i would go for the 3600 on 3s although i am planning on 6s on a rusty with the 4wd conversion and 2 8s (3s each) with a custom carbon fiber chassis...

I'd go with 4s Lipo. In mine on 3s Lipo, it wasn't bad, but wasn't too impressive. 4s Lipo added 1/3 more voltage over 3s Lipo, and it was more than impressive.
Another (cheaper, by half price) motor that would work is a Feigao 540 12s. It's the one I run in my Rustler, and is capable of pushing an E-Maxx around.

I have the motor. I have a mgm 12012 for esc. Iwas thinking 3s for running them on my maxx as well to. I am leaning to a set of 4s lipo for my maxx to. Thanks for input. I think it should do nicely. I jsut waiting to build the truck up. What spur and pinions do you use to handle the power metal man? I wouldn't think the 48 pitch would handle it.
Peace!

I use standard 48p gears. Before I got the FLM tranny case, I'd strip a spur gear every few runs. I've figured that this stripping was caused by the plastic motor plate on the stock tranny flexing, allowing the gear mesh to be altered for the worse. Now, I can lock my slipper clutch and not strip any spur gears!
