You'll be waiting a long time (forever) for TO-220 or TO-247 based controllers from Castle... They switch like crap -- too much package inductance.

There are much better MOSFET packages coming. TO-220 and TO-247 were designed in the 1970s, and just don't handle high dV/dT well.
Thanks for setting me strait on that one, my mentality was the bigger the better :)

Im going to shoot you a pm patrick.

Ps the xl almost seems to have abs braking.

Well, Arct1k and Pdelcast both just put in writing that this setup will handle bashing. I AM SOLD

esc brakes will make my conversion cheaper and simpler. You guys will see my e5b soon.

Until then look back at my $4000 gas 5b http://rc-monster.com/forum/showthre...ight=5b+thread

Haha, I'm right there with you Harold. Once these are released I'm going to be having at least 2 sets coming to my door. Really can't wait.

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

I would use the esc brakes for the rear, and a set of mech brakes for the front. Use a radio like the m11 that has a dedicated throttle slave channel to mix the front brakes and you are good to go. Front wheels do 60+% of the braking anyways, and I always disliked the stability issues that rear only brakes cause during hard stops.

Good to hear the omgwtfbbq esc can handle 8s with braking, but I would have really like a 10s esc with brakes. I will hold out for the 12s model I think, as my selection of lower kv motors will suit it better.

You might be waiting for long time on that 12s esc.
Last time I called CC (last month) they said the 12 esc was on the back burner.
But they are trying to develope a 20s (yes 20s) esc for the airplane guys.
So we need to get people to boycott all airplane esc's from CC so that they will work on "car" market more. haha

btw who needs front brakes?
You cant win if you are on the brakes.
I will tell you this a 30lb 5T doesn't like to stop at all when using the stock rear brakes when moving 60 mph.

doo540, I like the idea of 12S but I'm waiting on 8S with data logging and a real BEC circuit :-)

I'm extremely upset that there is another delay with the release of the ESC. It looks like the distributors might not get anything in until close to the middle of January. We have decided to order some off brand ESC/Motor combos from Kershaw Designs because of this.

Boo hoo. You know how long we waited for the damn mmm? So what it was worth it and so will the xl. It's not like you are the only one waiting, only difference is the others are smart enough to not waste time and money on off brand crap and wait patiently for the good stuff.
