Should I buy a 4x4 Pede? - 01.03.2011, 03:14 AM

So I was looking at the new pede 4x4...

I want one. Just looking on ebay they are slightly less than 400 shipped. Or I can buy a roller and set it up with the castle sc 2400 mmp system and run 5-6s lipo... That would cost me about 430-450...

So what do you guys think? I do not mind getting the complete truck, as it seems to be a better deal than buying a roller. But will I hate the vxl setup? I would run 3s lipo and leave stock gearing for 45mph or so. I just bash, but this looks like alot of fun, and I always had a soft spot for the old 2wd pedes.

Was thinking that... Best price for the truck so far is 389 shipped, but I am still looking.

Is your heart set on a pede? It is a cool rig I will say that. If you were interested I could set you up with my jammin from my f/s thread and add a custom painted body to the deal for less than the rtr pede. Don't know if your looking for a roller though.

Your asking if you should buy one? This is coming from the guy who reportedly had well over 50 rc's and had to whittle it down to 20 or so, right?

HA, I had almost 100 at one time... Yes, down to 20 or so right now. Just can't help myself, I guess. Need to finish a few projects, thinking I will give myself 1 month to decide if I really need this pede.

The only flaw in the new Pede, is they need a bigger battery box. They should have used the slash chassis and went from there, Not sure why they didn't. If i were to do this, I'd start with a slash and do the stampede mods to it. Similar in size to a revo 2.5, a set of Proline 3.0 badlands would be almost perfect for it

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Is it not long enough? Or wide enough? The packI plan to use should be fine for it, not much thicker than a nimh pack, so the expansion hold down should do the trick.

Do it! I just ordered the stuff to put me one together last night. If you are a tower member you can get a new one for $349. ($409-$60 ss club member), if not, stormer has them for $369. brook1965 on ebay will sell you a complete new roller for $215 shipped if you email them. I was planning to go that route because I already had a couple extra vxl setups around. I ended up finding a sweet deal on another plat slash 4x4, and just ordered all the parts from them to convert it over to the pede. I've seen a couple of the slash 4x4 converted mt type trucks, but really wanted the pede 4x4 for what it is, light, short, quick, so-on. I think it will be fine on the vxl stuff. I'm perfectly content with the slash 4x4 with the stock stuff on 3s. I have tried a couple diff setups, mmm/2650, med 3650/3300/mm, and have just gone back to the stock. It works fine, waterproof, plenty speedy, cheap. Kinda curious about the tray size, I think its the same width as slash but a little shorter. I've seen pics with a turnigy 5000 3s in one, and looked like they had just notched for the wires. If that fits it will be plenty big for me.

Had a look on tower and did not see a 60 off special for the 4x4 pede... Since membership is only 10 bucks it would be a good deal...

They won't show them on the site. They'll email you the codes every month if you are a member. I live in IL so don't really ever order too much since I have to pay tax. My buddy in KY orders the stuff for me and I just pick it up. I am not sure on the Jan ones yet, the Dec ones were the following. I'd say if you call them and tell them you want to order one and the saver club they'd fix you up with the discount.

$100.00 - $124.99 $15.00 010DA
$125.00 - $149.99 $20.00 010DB
$150.00 - $199.99 $25.00 010DC
$200.00 - $224.99 $35.00 010DD
$225.00 - $249.99 $40.00 010DE
$250.00 - $299.99 $50.00 010DF
$300.00 or more $60.00 010DG

actually see they have them listed for $399 now, they were $419 on the site last week, and $409 in the mag. You gotta get one now!

The battery box is too short for the packs i run, the box seems to be set up for traxxas 6 celled packs. I run flightpower and hyperion 3700 20c's right now, just looking at it from where most pack lengths seem to range.I know some are shorter, but seems most we run are longer than standard 6 celled NIMH pack.

Emailed coupon code(member?) for Jan is 014CY. That's if you spend $300. Saves $50

I registered for their newsletter and get 75$ off of a 300-399.99$ purchase.
Code is 014TE, but the e-mail address of your account needs to be registered for that newsletter so you can use that code.
At least that's how it was a year ago.
