Pede Question - 03.02.2006, 05:47 PM

Whats the hot setup for a Stampede? What esc and motor with what mods to handle them? I've got bearings all the way around and got it wide all the way around.

How many cells you running on this or planning on running? A few of the guys have a 12s on 12 cells on them. I am still building mine at the moment. The 8s seems to work well to for them pede.

Peace!

I don't know what to run on it, I guess 6-7 cells. I don't know anything about brushless.

I have a Lenher 4200 and MGM 80 in my rusty. I run 7 cells. I went with it for a balance of good runtimes with a little less speed.

I've got some good packs. I can get anything I need at a good price. battlepack.com is just 15 minutes away from my house. Great prices and a easy guy to deal with. I've been running gp3300's with a 15 turn motor. He built a 3800 for me and its a whole new truck. But I want to go faster. From what I see on this forum there are several ways to go. I just don't want to spend a bunch of money and not be happy with the setup. Can't wait to get it done though. I've got an emaxx and a savage that would I'm thinking about going brushless on too.

BigJ - I got a Warrior 7020 for $129 and my $71 Feigao 380C-6L (4899k/v, built in heatsink) is really quick on my wide-Pede/7 cells, everything stays cool, but my batts which are old 3300's. I'm pushing heavy Maxx tires & it's silly fast (I had a new Epic Intense 16x2/13T 12ga ESC & it struggled to move this).

Most underestimate the light/fast rev 380C motors. They bolt in place of 540 cans. I picked the "6L" because it makes good torque & speed with it's long armature/small rotor (my heavy Maxx tires), runs 55C (84/18 gearing). It's hard to control (full tilt) & I'm waiting on my wheelie bar. If I put the "light" mashers on it would be too fast for my needs (over 45mph). Pulls ~69A max.

If you go with the cheaper Warrior controllers (I prefer them), just use a UBEC (or build a LDO one for a few bucks) unless you know your steering amps I'd not risk the onboard BEC. Most ESC's use weak linear regs for the BEC circuit; I prefer to keep that heat out of the ESC, and Warriors can disable their circuit.

Making the Savage BL? I love my nitro T-Maxx, it bashes hard for hours in the dirt/muck. Can't run on my street (noise/weight/full armor), that's what the BL Pede is for.

I've got a Feigao 540 12s with an Mtroniks truck controller in my pede. Even on only 6 cells it'll still probably go 25 mph. When I double the cells to 12, the speed doubles, too. It's crazy fast and has waaay more torque than I need on 12 cells. I've got a Swami bar and I still put the truck on its lid all the time.

i am glad someone else posted their results with a 12s, because i have not been able to finish my 1/8 rustler-buggy thing yet - i cant wait :027: i hope the front end stays on the ground and not wheelie all the time unless i want it to:

That wing is going to become a wheelie bar, I'm afraid. :)

To each their own. My design goal was a "jumper/basher", so it needed Maxx tires, & really no more than 7 cells since it had enough weight from the tires. The 4900k/v 380C-L was perfect. I wanted more than 25mph on 6-7 cells (have alot of 7cell packs from my planes, & like to charge batts fast), & got it (no matter the gearing, I use expo on throttle to not flip on lid, quite touchy). Makes great electric basher as I already have a nitro racer and nitro Maxx.
