wanna try sensored - 01.22.2011, 06:18 PM

well i have a stock summit and altho i dont mind how slow it is it could use just a little more and id like to run lipos as the evx2 has no lvc.

i have a brand new mmp and new 1x 2200 1 x 1600 2 x 1800 cc motors
however i dont need a 70mph monster truck and would like to try sensored
should i try the mmp out with another motor ? i plan to only run 4s
my first thought was a some tekin but not sure what kv to go with
id be happy with top speed around 35 max. but iv had 2 mmps have issues just running shourtcourse motors so im iffy on putting one in a summit not to mention ill have to run a bec. i also really dont wanna go mmm because the mmp is cheaper to get fixed non warranty cost for mmp is only $50 vs mmm at $70
i really want it reliable also i dont wanna have heat issues.
id really like to stay all castle but alas i would like to have no cogging...

If you dont trust the MMPro with a tekin motor ( ~1400kv should be good for 4s lipo & 30-35mph ), then you dont really have many other options- the hobbywing sensored systems are said to cog a bit even though they are sensored, and that just leaves a novak hvmaxx system or a full tekin rx8 system..

I used a Hobbywing XERUN 150A sensored ESC with Tekin T8 1900kv in my XTM Rail and it was pretty smooth. Not as smooth as my RC8Be with a RX8/T8 2250kv setup but not too far away. It never cogged but it didn't start as smooth as it did with the Tekin ESC. It would kind of do a little lurch forward at the smallest throttle input but once on the way it was very smooth indeed. Power was very progressive. Was pretty surprised that a Chinese ESC could be that smooth.
Still if you want ultimate in smoothness then go with Tekin RX8/T8 combo but T8 motor with MMP should do a pretty good job too.
