advise on an upgrade - 03.09.2006, 06:51 AM

Hi ive been running a maxx with a 9920 controller and 9L motor for nearly a year now and have read about the XL motors giving more torque and running cooler so would like to upgrade but which turn should i got for im running 16 cells IB3800's and would be happy with about 20min run time so whick of the XL motors would be better for me? Also there is no option for the shaft size on these so are they the 5mm ones or standard?

A 8XL should give you the power to run higher gearing to ge the speed but also get the long runtimes.

I switched from a 9L to a 7XL, but I kinda wish I would have gotten the 8or 9XL and geared higher. 7XL is fast and nice on 16cells though.

I can't vouch for runtimes on either 8or9XL, but from what I've heard, people are getting 25-40minutes on IB3800s depending on driving style.

I'm pretty hard on mine and I can get a good solid 20 miuntes of fun out of my 16 IB3800's.

I never got but about 10 min on the 7xl. I have ran a 9xl for 25-30 min average on ib 3800. The speed was good to between both.

You should get close but it really depends on gearing and driving style.
