exactly it is my opinion and those $20 can be spent on standard vise that will do much better job and not just for soldering so you dont end up with a million of single purpose stuff

You will probably be better off with the vise. It will go well with your hammer. I’ll stick to "right tool for the job" theory.

I have some soft plastic jaws for my vise. Also, I have a small clamp on vise (what I was referring to) that has a plasticy type of coating on it and it works great for bullets that will transfer heat.
