Btw simplechamp , the kyoshio spur gear wont fit the ve8 , the only one that fits there is the ve8 50t one ... but , Harley @ HHH industries did something cool

OK I see now, I thought the VE8 used the same spurs as D8/D8T.

You should be able to fit any of the "smaller" sized center diffs in there with shims (AE, Mugen, Losi, Xray) but the AE is probably as cheap as any. I do the same thing with the shims to put the Slipperential in my Jammin.

I tried the AE diff in my Ve8, but it took way more shims than I was comfortable with. I ended up using the 46t plastic spur from a Nexx8.

Slipperential ? heard very little about it whats that ? for better traction ?

nah im not worried , ones the top plastic part is bolted down, then its like a box , wont move anywhere

Delta (D) winds make more power on the bottom end, Y's (just like the cymbol) make more power on the top end. Should be a little easier on the gear train on startup and give a little more push at the end of it's rpm range.

The 1.5y should end up right about 45k rpm with the load. I think even with the little extra kv rpm the 2.5d may not spin as fast at the end with the load.

You could push it to the 2D and get more rpm, but your maxing out the rpm even with a load, and if it spins the tires on a fresh pack it will over rev. Not to mention how slow your going to need to roll on the throttle.

My #1 favorite RC-Monster product. It's a 1/8 center diff with a built-in slipper. Great for traction control and drivetrain protection.

ok but exemple , the 2650kv kit on 6s would hit passed 60k rpm ... woulnt this be faster ??

60k is the rpm limit, if you spin any faster your warranty and reliability are out the window, heat becomes an issue, and it could become a game of keeping replacement parts on hand :-)
This is also why I recomend the XL over the Mamba Monster in your rig, reliability as it has a higher amp capacity and data logging so you KNOW what's happening after a run.

If you don't care about ratings and reliability, you could run a 1415/1D (4200kv), I've heard they will spin 100K for a while. Pair that up with a Mamba Monster on 6S for 94k rpm, gear for 100mph...How long it will last, and how hot it will get are a mystery to me.

I know the 1518/XL combo I have is rock solid, runs cool, and is IMHO the ultimate setup for a <10 pound 1/8th buggy.

P.s. There is a way to make the 1518 fit in your buggy
You could run the XL on 6S with the 2200kv Castle 1515 too

I also think the slipperential isn't a must have in your application. It is there to protect the drivetrain from the shock of landing with the tires spinning or stopped. If you are just doing speed runs and not building an all-around buggy you should be fine without it.

If your going to build a multi purpose buggy you should consider it.

Why not come up with a custom mount to allow using a different diff setup?
