I want all out -
03.23.2005, 01:24 AM
I have an emaxx and want to get some serious power out of it. I have raced other forms of off road before but never on an outlaw that would allow BL to be used against "the gas guys."
Bbbbuuuutttt... I have a few questions first,
I was just wondering why the 9L is so popular vs. a motor like the 8L?
Why does sensorless seem to be so much more powerful, and currently i am basing all my info on the opinions of others. This only bothers me because the Kv rating on the HV is so much higher than that of the 9L, but is often called "mild"
I am currently holding position on one setup though,
It is the 8L with a 9918 and a G-maxx CF with G3 Suspension and lipo packs because my truck weighs a ton, and then bowties on velo HD's with RD CVD's all around plus fastlane hybrids and Big Bores (8) with Lunsford Ti where ever i can get it including springs and then the Trinity Blues everywhere else.
I would greatly appreciate all help and criticism seeing as this truck will be competing against some of the best built revos around. The people i race with don't wast time, i know one guy who got disability leave on a broken leg so that he could sopposedly work at home, but really spends all day at the track and works between recever pack charges.
Once again, all will be appreciated:D

The RDLogics cvds won't work with the hybrid bulks and 1/8 diffs, so you will need to go with MIP or another cvds. The titanium springs will most likely be too stiff as well, unless you onnly use 4 springs. Center shafts would also be a worthwhile upgrade. Also, are you using the stock suspension? I personally like the stock suspension, but most upgrade here as well. For the 8L (this is the motor I run) on LiPos, I wouldn't go past 14.8 volts, and make sure you have a means to monitor discharge voltage so you don't kill the cells. It sounds like a pretty solid setup.

Thanks Mike, do you know of another way to seal the CVDs from dust, thats what i liked about the RDLogics'. The track i run on is very dusty, when it gets windy, the dust forms mini-tornadoes. So that makes a problem for my truck and binding is an issue, any ideas?
Thanks in advance

You would need a lot of dust to bind the cvds! If you can find some heat shrink that is big enought to cover the joint, you may be able to rig up your own "dust guard". If you have binding, I would attribute it to something besides dust (mud, yes, but dust can be blown off with compressed air pretty easily).

I don't remember exactly, but I think they add about 3 or 4 ounces total weight.
