Gear ratio reduction in Ofna GTP. - 03.17.2011, 11:04 PM

I am looking to lower the Differential gear ration of my GTP and was looking to see if there are other ring and pinion sets that will fit the GTP where I can lower the gear ratio. Thanks.

It's already taller than most 1/8th buggies at 3.14:1. What about bigger pinion, smaller spur and/or more voltage? Can't be that hard to make it go faster.

You can always go with a different motor.

I would love a 4000 kv motor in this thing but until Castle builds one, I have to do it with gearing.

Neu has one the 1515 4100kv 1D or the .5Y 4400kv 1515 motor. Or there is the C50-6L 4080kv Hacker too. How fast do you really want to go? Or is it all about acceleration for you?

Need to figure a way to mount the traxxas 36,38 & 40t mod1 spurs on the spool. The CC 2650 on 6s is a rocket even with the big stock spur.

100+ on 6s and bullet fast on 4s. The parking lot races around here are limited to 4s so I need to compete with the guys running higher KVs with same voltage. I know I can gear the 2200 up without any issue but lowering the G/R at the same time would overcome the higher KV motors.

I see. Bullet fast will need to be a 4 poler for sure. You will be surprised how fast the 2700kv 1515 motor can be on 4s. And you having the CF chassis, will be even quicker out the hole.

I may have to look into getting a 2650.

Why not try your Medusa 3100kv motor in your light ride?

My GTP is on the heavy side for the Medusa I think. My GTP is tipping in at about 6.5 without the battery so I think that would be a bit much it.

I think my Rustler weighs 6.5... Is that RTR minus the battery? The 36-60 is much lighter than a 1515. It might be worth doing a test drive and see how it goes. It is a 4-pole after all and should be able to throw that weight around pretty good.
