Losi ten-t electric - 03.21.2011, 10:44 PM

Hey guys I know its been a while since I have been on here but got into planes and helis and then I lost my JOB and had to sell eveything off but my emaxx with the novak hv 6.5 in it. Well anyways work has picked back up a little(part time) and am dieing to build a new truck. I have been eyeing the losi Ten-t. Well losi came out with th eTen scte that is basicly the same thing but electric with different body and wheels. So I am going to pick one of those up in the next few weeks. Now my question is What brushless setup would give me say 38 to 42mph and stay cool no matter what kind of crap I drive threw (I live at the beach with 100+ft sand duns and run out there jumping dunes)

So what esc, motor, # of cell do you all recommend? Im not looking for a speed demon(only about 40ish) as I have found with my emaxx that is you keep the speed reasonable it doesnt break as much :D . (well my 50mph lst2 didnt break all that often but I did have to replace diffs more than I wanted too) So with the Ten-T I want something I can go out and bash with my son (he has a brushless rustler with a 2s 5300) and get cool temps and long runtimes. And of course I have to out run him(I mean I'm dad I have to have an edge over him )

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I dont know nothing about making a 7 pound RC truck brushless(1/10th or 1/8th Im good)

Thanks, Matt

3s on a buggy size motor (15xx) around 2400-2700kv. For 4s, same motor size, but go for motor kv between 1900-2500. I personally use a Tekin RX8 buggy setup (1900kv) on 4s and it's perfect. Remember, it's about the same weight and size as an 8th scale buggy, so choose accordingly.

WOW thank you! So what are your thoughts on the Ten-t? Worth getting?
Since I have 10 4s 4000s for my plane I guess i should go that route. Tekin it is then!

I really like mine. It's big enough to be durable, but small enough not to take a lot of power to run. Losi parts are pretty easy to get at my LHS, but I haven't broken anything yet.

4s 4000mAh would be perfect. Should be able to get around 25 minutes of runtime give or take depending on gearing.

The Tekin is a bit more expensive than other options out there, but I really like the sensored operation. Take-offs and braking is butter smooth even compared to current sensorless firmware. The only thing I don't like about the Tekin is the LVC isn't as programmable as a Castle ESC, but that's a minor thing.

I honestly can't remember, and it's nighttime and the car is in the garage. But, at a guess, I'd say 20 or 22T pinion with Mike's custom 52T spur (I have the conversion which has a custom CD). Just run some numbers through the speed calculator to see what you need to run for the speed you want.
