Exclamation Custom Traxxas 4x4 Truck ( like slash ) NEED INFO ! - 03.23.2011, 10:19 AM

Hi all I just bought a custom truck from a guys on the internet its a custom truck with traxxas part front and rear t-maxx diff , t-maxx shaft , direct drive ( no tranny ) , no slipper , 32p gear , custom alu chassis , t-maxx steering bell crank , t-maxx shock ,

how do you think it will hold up brushless power the way it is ? and this truck should be bulletproof right ?

here some pictures ;

No idea if it will hold up, but that has to be the most "creative" use of a maxx wheel hub I have ever seen.

I would love to see some high qual pics of the spur gear mount and the rear axle...

Agreed, I think it has a good chance of holding up, but the motor mount could be a bit thin, and it is only secured by two screws I think. If I was you I'd make up a thicker mount. I'm sure a 1/10 scale system would be fine it it, but I'm not sure if it would hold up to anything too powerful.

4wd with an aluminum(guessing based on pics) chassis is a lot for that spur gear to deal with.

I think geared low enough, it would stand up to a basic brushless setup with adjusted punch turned all the way down. If there was some way to mod a slipper into that spur gear, I'd be willing to think it could take normal speeds for that chassis to keep up with the other 4wd short course trucks.

the spur gear is 32p just like a e-maxx or e-revo. it should hold up just fine as long as the mesh is good. also, they are only $3-4 to change if it strips.

i think it will handle a 1/10 brushless system or even a mild 1/8 system without any problems.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

THe motor plate might be a little thin, I'd run a brace from the top of it to the rollcage bar directly behind it. Then you won't have to worry about it flexing at all when landing jumps, hitting into stuff, etc.

As far as handling more power. Your biggest concern should be the diffs and driveshafts. The driveshafts are the older style sliders, and they can't handle alot of power without twisting up and snapping. My brother inlaws 3906 emaxx with a Novak HV6.5 eats them up in 3-4 runs.

The diffs. From what I can tell, there is no way to access the gears inside the custom rear axle. So if you blow them, you're SOL. If thats truly the case, the most I'd put in this is a Castle SCT system, and I'd turn the punch control way up on that. Think you'd be better off with a vxl or cc4600 on 2s though.

Edit: I'd also bet money that the thin 3906 style emaxx shafts are inside the rear axle "tubes". Again, it looks as if there's no way of acessing the shafts or gears if they break without cutting the axle apart so I wouldn't push it with big power.

Edit 2: Cool truck though. Definitely get us some more pics, especially of the rear axle. And I'm curious to see the front a-arms, looks like they are custom and made of the same tubing as the rollcage
