Looks like fun! As a kid I used to have a Tyco hovercraft that actually had a rubber skirt and could run on water, loved that little thing. But the batteries sucked and the skirt eventually got tore up and no replacement available.

Gyro should help a lot, good idea to try that (if you can get a working one!)
