chances are you would be ok but i wouldnt recommend it. you would probably fry the internal bec or who know, maybe the whole controller. im not really sure, although i have heard of people running up to 18 cells with no bec and no ill effects.

I ran my truck last night with 14 cells and no UBEC, just for about 5 minutes, could not wait, it ran AWESOME and then .......... all of a sudden it just stopped, i picked it up, unplugged one of the batteries and plugged it back in and it was fine, i think it happened because my antanae is a little scuffed up, i will get a new reciever and try it out again.

Accually it was the internal bec that was your problem. It is telling you it was to much.

I tried to run mine before hand cates. It would go and kick off until unplug and plug the batts back in. I think i tried 14 at first to. It was my first brushless system.

Peace!

It let the smoke out later on. It seems to run better on a ubec though. It kept cutting out faster and faster the more i ran it. I don't know if i did damage or not.

Another option, while you're waiting for a UBEC, is to disable the internal BEC on the controller and use a receiver pack. It's not as light or as convenient as a UBEC, but it does the job.

Joe

Electronics run on smoke... if you let the smoke out, they stop working.
