The mechanism was kind of like what you are working on now and all looked very professionally done from what I could tell. Something to think over I guess. I wish we had our camera so I could take some snaphots of it to share on here. Oh well.

Those Giant bikes are really good quality here in Europe, you should check them out, if you did not made it already.
