CC 4mm bullets incompatible to CC 4mm bullets? - 06.15.2011, 09:23 AM

Hey guys,
anyone who knows what's up with the 4mm CC bullets lately?
I just recently bought 4 packs (2 from liquidrc, 2 from my local dealer in Germany) of those, and they just don't fit each other.
With the older bullets I bought over half a year ago, I have had no issues, but with those bought recently, seems the male plug is to big in diameter.
Add to that the new female plugs seem to have a slightly bigger inner diameter, what's the story with that? Shouldn't parts like that stay consistent?

This is a major annoyance, because thank's to the fact that CC 4mm male plugs don't fit CC 4mm female plugs I can't test my new motor today, and it's supposed to start raining again tomorrow and continue throughout the whole weekend...

To quote CC on these plugs:
Quote:
If you want something done right, you usually have to do it yourself. We were never totally satisfied with the options for bullet connectors for our high power applications, so we designed and manufactured our own. CC Bullets make the connection, every time. Simple as that.
Wish it actually was that simple. As for my satisfaction right now, take an educated guess.

By the way, because I wanted to know, I tried and eventually got 2 pairs together, with a big hammer.
Now I'm looking for a way to get them apart again, without damaging them.

I had the same issue with mine recently. I just dremeled them to get a fit. It was annoying but I really didn't want to fool with sending them back at the time, I wanted to be up and running.

Just contact tech support, they will get you a free set sent out.

We had an issue with one run of females -- there was a machine setup problem and the tolerances were off by a couple thousandths.

We are replacing all those connectors for free.

Thanx!

Patrick

Hey Patrick, thank's for showing up in here!
Thing is though: it's the male plugs I have the issues with.
And as I said, not with 1 or 2 connectors, but with the males of 4 complete sets.

Hmmmm... do the new females work with the new males?

This happened with me for two sets. Males would not fit, it was too tight. Thank God this doesn't happen elsewhere.......

Nope, the females don't seem to be the problem (that's a first).
The old males work with the new and old females.
But the new males don't work with the new and old females.

Me too! I bought a couple sets to put on my 13.5 and 17.5 motors so I can switch them up easy. The new males on the motors didn't fit the females that where on the esc. The females on the esc work fine with my older CC bullets.

I do wish the CC females where a little deaper though so that they could be used with non CC 4mm males as well though.

I have already spoken to Thomas about this but here is the info for you.

I now have 6 sets that don't work. (A buddy of mine also has 6 sets that don't work.)

Two of the sets, the females just simply don't fit in the males. Some of those females (when compressed so the spring is taken out of them) measure significantly over the I.D of the males.

The other four sets, can be used, but only by Superman. Measured on a bathroom scale, it takes about 25 pounds of pressure to seat them. Once seated, I was only able to separate them holding one end in a vise and pulling the other with pliers.

In addition, when I tried some females from these new sets with some males from a new motor (1410) I found that the bullet loosened up the further the male was inserted into the female. When fully seated, the the male would easily rotate in the female.

I see that some vendors still have some of these for sale. If they are part of the bad lot, I would think you would want to pull them, at least so you have less to replace when people have problems with them.

Ta_man: I think you need to either go back to health class or maybe you just wrote this wrong. The females don't go into the males. The male ends are the ones that would have the spring to them, the end that is a shaft separated into 4 pieces. The female end is just a hollow cavity. Much like human anatomy!!!

Not writing this to be an a** or anything just don't want people to be confused by what you wrote.

Don't worry, I would have written this myself, but I was looking for the right words

@ta_man: So what did Thomas say to this problem?

Fixed it.

Thanks for pointing out the gender error in the description. It was late at night when I wrote that.

Well, it's been a few days now...

Any news regarding the connectors?
Partick? Thomas? Anyone?

Well, if you contact Thomas he'll get you some replacements free of charge.

From what I understand, there were two different drawings for 4.0mm connectors, and some confusion. It's been straightened out, but there are some bad tolerance connectors out there.

Thanx!

Patrick
