Sidewinder SV2 died again with titan 12T, I am confused - 06.26.2011, 10:34 PM

Well, my second one just died on 3s hooked to a 12t titan.

This is in my scaler (scx10) and just want feedback if someone thinks it's too much. Is the motor drawing that much amperage on 3s? I am not geared for any kind of speed, just a moderate jogging pace.

Before anyone suggests it I have checked all the obvious things, this isn't my first go round for people that don't know me.

No binding, no water, plenty of airflow, CC bec installed

I don't get it. The SV2 is supposed to be 40% more powerful than the first Sidewinder....

Yeah, that's what I am saying.

I don't even have any hardcore settings and my drag brake is at 100% and not the 213% full only crawler mode.

I know I am not the only one as others are having issues on RCC as well.

I am thinking of just putting a vxl motor on it (waterprood is why) because I really don't need the low speed control like a comp crawler on this rig.

Either way I will be sending it back to CC this week. Just hoping someone from CC will chime in and we can discuss. I am not mad or anything, just trying to get to the bottom of the issue.

It may be a bec failure due to high amp draw on the steering servo

12t titan and 3s lipo? The 12t titans are only designed to take 9 nimh cells max, even then they run hot- little amp hogs...

Hey Texas,

Are you using it in reversing mode??

We haven't seen any issue with the SV2 in brushed mode -- but I'll certainly take a look at return history (when I get back the the USA) and see if I can find anything.

ALSO -- you might check your motor to see if the Kv is high -- if the magnets have weakened, it can be really hard on the controller.

Thanx!

Patrick

Yeah, I am thinking it could be so. I just wanted a cheap brushed motor for wet land driving.

The motor is new, only used four or five times. Yes I am using it in brushed with reverse mode. It's the 12t titan traxxas puts in the brushed stampede/rustler/bandit. Maybe the 3s is just too much. I can't find anything that references the KV on it.

The motor temps stay low enough, the temp gauge said around 130 I think when I initially took it on the first outing.

Thanks Patrick!
