My traxxas vxl3m esc died !! - 08.20.2011, 08:46 AM

Hi !

On the second pack my vxl3m esc cutoff the motor because the lipo was emty so i put a new one in and the truck(1/16 summit) ran great for 20m and landed on it's roof and then the motor died ? Why ? I geared my summit 16/55 so that chould be ok to run on 3s right? And the thermalcutoff didn't cut the power in two stages that the instruktions says! It just died!

I,ve tried another motor with the same result ! Dead motor but with the servo working and the esc reacts on throttle input but wount spin the motor !,

Sounds like maybe a broken solder joint inside the esc perhaps on one of the motor leads, or one of the phases has died- any smell of burnt or hot electric when it's powered on?

I would just contact traxxas customer support, tell them it died after 2 runs, you've tried a different motor & it needs to be sent in for repair or replacement- should be free if it's less than 12 months old.

Ok!

I will send it in then!

I put a mm esc in my summit now so i can keep on bashing ! And the mm esc chouldent have to work that hard in this little truck.

Just a thought ! aren't 4000kv a litle to high for a 4 wd mt ? Would a 3000kv 2221-10 scorpio outrunner be a good and effichent motor ? Or will it cogg?

It's the 1/16 scale summit !
