Hey guys. Throwing my focus back on this build. After a lot of pondering I ordered the Speed passion conversion kit. Anyway apart from the spur hub the kit is pretty disappointing and would not recommend it at all. Motor mount is useless and leaves you with no adjustment for the mesh. Seems like a 17T pinion is the only thing that would work. Wont be throwing it out as it might be useful in a future project but for this one I am going to build my own mount.
Also had a change of mind on the motor too. After looking at what a few other people were running I decided to go with the Castle 1512 1Y. Is it a good choice? Time will tell but I figured it should run pretty sweetly on 4S and occasional 6S blast shouldn't hurt it too much. It should pretty much stay under the 60,000 rpm limit even on 6S with a bit of load and voltage drop. Well I hope so.
Now another question regarding the gearing. My choices are pretty limited. With the 45T spur I doubt I could go lower than a 20T pinion (maybe 19) before the motor touches the rear belt. What sort of ratios are you guys with these conversions running. I was going to buy everything from 20 to 25 tooth pinions but if someone can narrow down the field for me a little I could save a few bucks.
