Ok guys, one last question. What would happen if i used super glue (cyanoacrylate), to set the parts in position, then used the epoxy for final setting? Is there a chemical reason not to?

thanks guys, this is a good discussion.

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Good question - I'm not really sure how CA & epoxy will react

What I would do is mix epoxy & 'glue fibers' (you could use talc powder) to stiffen the mix until it's as viscous as cold honey, then glue your components with that (You will need to add black pigment powder if you don't want to see the glue) & 'cove' the excess away using a tight radius to leave a smooth fillet

Have you got some small off-cuts you can test with?
