Perhaps Sir might consider a cheaper option first which often does the trick- a glitch buster capacitor is nice and simple and may save you a few $$.

Hehe, indeed the Sir in question may not be very versed in the usage of caps. He most certainly explored that avenue with a big 35v low esr with similar results. Perhaps that was a unwise application for 5.5v Sir?

Shown here without the cap installed in the upper rx.

Not sure if a HV cap would cause it to not be effective, but a 12v ~2000uf cap is what I use on my rigs and never had any issues with brown outs..

A higher voltage cap won't hurt anything at all. The higher the voltage and/or capacitance, the physically larger the cap is. While you want some voltage overhead (at least 25%), there is no benefit by going higher. A cap will only charge up to the voltage being applied to it. Applying 12v to a 2,000v cap will only have 12v on the cap. A 10v rating is more than sufficient for a ~6v BEC. Low-ESR type is not really needed IMO (but won't hurt) because there aren't a lot of high-current ripple. Capacitance value from 1000µF to 2200µF should be enough - if you need anything higher, it's likely that the BEC is simply working too hard.

Another option is wrapping the throttle cable through a ferrite donut. This would only help if high-frequency signals are being induced into the BEC wire (most likely from close motor wires) causing erratic receiver operation. This won't help with BEC voltage sag - although a receiver "brownout" could actually be the receiver "rebooting" from noisy power.

Okay, that clears a few things up for me. Thanks guys! I have a few green rings around I can try with the cap, then try the bec if needed. I wonder if the rpm sensor is a power hog the temp read out is solid but probably doesn't update near as often.

The castle link update is out (to use any radio) so I'll be changing back to the Mamba Extreme again. I'll still will want to run two RX for the best of both worlds though.

I'm still not for sure what CLL is(was), when all the telemetry sensors are external to the esc. Does(Did) any of the Traxxas link app settings alter any of the castle link settings? throttle sensitivity? I guess I can test that out now that it links up.

I removed the power jumper from the rx's and wired in a ubec into the TQI rx last night. So far so good it is reporting higher speeds again.

My radio's anti-lock brakes is a nice feature to have with the XO-1.
