Yes, the truck made it to Mike. He has a couple of projects ahead of this one, but I'm sure he will keep us all posted.

forgot to ask this, but what kind of lipo setup were you looking to use?

open to suggestions regarding the battery box - drawing some on this now and hopefully can have something cut next week. :-)

I think for me personally, the main thing I like is if the trays have a sufficiently high front potion of the wall so that softcased packs don't shift as much. For hardcase I though I liked your previous trays I used in 1/8 electric.

Do you have any preliminary info on the layout you are going with?

Excited to see what you come up with!

Heck, would love to see more parts from you for the MCD in general as the standard MCD hop up parts are super expensive.

I dont see mike changing his basic tray design - A little velcro in the bottom stops the soft case batteries sliding.

not so much the actual battery sliding (i had no issues with that used weather stripping to snug everything up), but the individual cells in the shrinkwrap. What I saw was the basically it doing one of these:
_____
FRONT \ _____ \ REAR

it never really affected anything, and the conversion I had from him was good (RC8T). I just noticed how I liked the Hyper 9E tray I had when I got one in as the front wall was high enough to prevent this and figured I'd throw that out there if he was taking suggestions.

My battery trays are machined, not molded - height is limited by material thickness and tool length. That said, it is fairly easy to install a stop in the front of the tray for tall batteries.

Ahh I've never had cells slide over themselves...

no prob Mike. Heck if it was an option to just drill the tray and put a stop in and bolt it to the tray no sweat, I could look into that.

The cell shift was an issue before the whole hard case lipo deal really took off. Seen it with a variety of packs from el cheapos to some higher dollar ones like Hyperions.

I never had it affect anything in particular and I did prefer it to the bend you could get from using a Tekno style strapping system (down the middle strap could have packs bend at that point).

And mike if you find you are liking the MCD and want to make more upgrades for it, a really big thing would be some better shock shafts / forks combination as that area bends under impacts at times or snaps off. Pretty much the one main complaint short of using alloy arms that is an issue.

How is the motor/center diff positioning looking?

If it is like your 1/8 set up, then I would guess one battery tray parallel to the motor on the opposite side of the chassis. The other battery tray in the back where the gas tank used to sit (perpendicular to the motor).

I will be using 8S via two packs of 4S, so two battery trays would be great. It will also help with the weight distribution.

Thank you for the love for our MCDs.

That mount is similar to those offered by Tekno. They are intended to mount a motor where a nitro motor was as the mounting holes are the same as a nitro motor.

I get that...I was talking about the one shown here....is that one on the market anywhere. Currently the tekno only goes up to 42 mm. I would like one to fit a castle 1717.
