Just be aware that almost all of those outlet USB ports have limited current output which is shared between multiple ports, so may charge your devices slower (sometimes much slower) than the charge adapter it came with. It just depends on the device.
Most current smart phones charge at 1A
minimum. And tablets charge as high as 2.1A. Using a supply that isn't rated for the device will cause the device to take longer to charge.
I have several higher-current devices (over 1A) so I wanted to build something where I wouldn't have to worry about the current requirements.

Yeah, the binding posts are for the 12v line. I figured the supply had a decent 12v output so why not make it available?
