CF G2 with low CoG - 11.20.2012, 08:50 AM

After six years I decided to start tinkering with my old CF G2 Gorilla Maxx chassis.
I really never liked how the Plettenberg Bigmaxximum sat hi and off center so I decided to go the Center Diff way after much reading on this forum and bugging the hell out of Mike

In the end after having spent hours designing a weak mount, Mike convinced me that his universal mount was the best (easiest and most effective) way to go.

Here is the (almost) final product geared way too high but hey, if ain't broke...break it.

As they say...age makes you sexy ( I think I just made that up for my own benefit).

Here are some more pics of the (almost) final product...

PS. The gearing is WAY too high, I barely hit 8,000 RMP and look at the ballooning.

Nice to see people are still using that setup! I remember when that idea was the latest and greatest.

Maybe you should instal truggy diffs to get the ratio up? Or just run that motor on 4S??

Good point but at this point I think I'm going to strap a GPS to it and see how fast it really goes until something explodes! Then try again...

I'm looking for smaller wheels/tires for a straight run on asphalt; does anyone have any suggestions?

if you have 17mm hexes, you can use wheels/tires intyended for the Inferno Gt and similar buggy-based road cars.

Nice to see your still kickin' Dafni!

I like the prolines road rage but they are too wide.
Better going with something like this as Mike suggested:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ith-Inner-GT-2

BTW I took the truck for a test run and there was a little cogging but barely perceptible. Went up to 11,000 RPM which was about 23 MPH and felt crazy fast but I loved how the front was lifting without loosing contact with the ground.

With a setup like yours I think the Schulze is doomed.

Stay away from the roadrage tires on a highspeed setup like this. Pizzacutters was the word back then.
I would go the way Mike suggested, 17mm hex and buggy wheels/tires.

Yo, cheers Mike, good to know we're still here.

Since today I was able to take the truck out for a spin (video to be posted after edit) I was also able to un-glue the front tires after a couple of wheelies...

The wheels I have now are all 14mm hex, could I just get a 17mm hex wheel with the appropriate pin or would that not work for some reasons?
I believe the CVD I have are MIP (old original not spline).

I run Traxxas 17mm hex's with Proline Badland, on the original shiny 2,5 MIP cvd's. I had to mod the Traxxas hex's a bit by drilling from the backside, to make them go far enough into the cvd.
