Sidewinder SCT
Without fan, non-waterproof, motor wires attached
With fan, non-waterproof, motor wires attached
With fan, waterproof, motor wires attached
With fan, waterproof, bullet connectors on board
HPI Vapor
HPI Vapor Pro
DuraTrax Element
Holmes TorqueMaster BR-XL (brushed only)
Axial AE-3 Vanguard
Axial AE-2 (brushed only)

Mamba Monster based:
Mamba Monster V1-V3
Mamba Monster 2
HPI Blur
Traxxas Monster (E-Revo/E-Maxx)
Traxxas Monster with cap pack, Castle Link Live and locked software (XO-1) (Just for you whitrzac)

The question with the brushed sidewinders is, are all of the brushless parts there and just needs a wire soldered on?

I would really like to be able to use the et-3s for 4s+...

Doesn't the traxxas monster have a few versions too? With cap-pack/without?

I think the axial brushed is a modified board much closer to the Holmes brxl's

I know for sure that the Holmes is completely different circuit boards that is laid out for brushed; it only have 4 FETs. I would assume the axial is the same but I've never seen one before.

The 3s limit on the ET-3s was put there at the request of Traxxas; because it's installed RTR in the dragster and if you run it on 4s the motor becomes unhappy (IE cooked).

And you are technically correct (the best kind of correct), the XO-1 monster is a modified Monster and does include the cap pack. I shall correct this egregious error in my previous post.

Is there a way to trick the et-3s in to working on 4s+? I'm up to 4 of them now....

There was a way until Patrick started encrypting the config file :(

My own fault for finding out all the upcoming releases...

Has anyone tried to decrypt the config file? When did they start encrypting them?

Or better yet, how can I bypass the 3s limit on the Et-3s?

Decryption is likely possible given enough time and motivation. CC apparently uses SQLLite to store their database, but it is encrypted with either a custom encryption made by CC devs, or something commercially available like SQLCipher. Either way, you need the decryption key. I did notice several instances of the key "b77a5c561934e089" in the "ZedGraph.resources.dll" files, but I doubt it would be in there and in such an easily readable format. But the key has to be included somewhere in the program (or support DLLs), or retrieved from the CC's server (but that would require a constant net connection).

I hunted for a while in the hex and tried some cracks but to no avail.

I believe it was traxxas that asked for it after i blabbed about the new water esc early. Oops

Patrick was very decent about it and I obviously meant no harm but it was encrypted quickly.

I think it should be possible to crack it by running the program with a debugger/tracer in the background that will trace API calls. Somehow the database must be decrypted during runtime and thus the key will probably show up when the database is decrypted/loaded.

An older version of the Castle Link that is unencrypted wouldn't help. Old versions (over ~1 year ago) of Castle Link won't have the ET-3S because the ESC was released afterwards. Old versions of Castle Link don't support newer ESCs. So even if you had the unencrypted versions of the Link they won't recognize the ET-3S. I can't think of anyway to remove the over-voltage protection without direct access to the code. And of course if I did I wouldn't post it to a public forum...cause ya know, I like my job. :)
