lipo packs - 04.08.2006, 02:56 PM

Hi. I just got addicted, already, to a brushless converted truggy ( I'm thinking of a HPI Hellfire with some speedtech hopups and, ofcourse, Mike's help).

I need six lipo cells for my setup. 6400-8000mah are my target equipped with a balance connector. I also need a charger( a good one for no more than 150-200 with a balancer). I'm ready to spend $600 maxximum for 6s lipos and charger.

The project is going to take a very long time, I guess. With God's willing, I might have it ready after 10-12 months. Money is a real problem right now.

Thanks for help, though

Try to look at maxamps, get the EOS charger, and the LVD's they have, just browse their site for now. www.maxamps.com

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

If you buy from Maxamps, you could get two 3s2p packs with their 3000mah cells, so 6000mah total. That's $240 for the packs, and then you can get 2 Hyperion LBA6 balancers, $40 each, $80 for both. Without a charger, that's $320. There really aren't many (if any) chargers besides the AF109 that can do 6 Lipo cells for under $200, but the Thunder Power 1010C is $200 and is very good.
If you get the TP 10cell balancer for $100 and charger, along with the data cable to go between the balancer and charger, you would have a completely fool-proof charging setup that is advanced as it gets. So, for $300 you get a top-notch charging setup. Then, you would have $300 left for batteries.

Well, that seems interesting. Are the Maxamps lipos good enough for my setup? How much will it cost me if I get the 8000mah packs in 6s form?
I'll check on the TP balancer and charger. I might go for a Schulze charger if needed.

Thanks for the help, Sylvester and MetalMan.

It would cost $380 total for two 3s2p packs, that would be put in series for 6s2p 8000mah.

The isl 8-936g is listed for 889 dollars or something. Is it that incredible to be sold for such a rediculous price?!!!!!

The Schulze 330d at 3s-6s Lipo can do up to 5.5amps. That would be an option, but it doesn't have the ability to interface with a balancer, like the TP 1010C charger can.

The maxamps packs do not appear to be pre-wired for a balancing cable. So, this may sound dumb but how will the maxamps pack be balanced without being pre-wired to do so?

Well, you're the pros here and I simply need the best for a moderate price. Batteries should not go under 6k mah.

You need to have a close look at a hellfire first, there is not a lot of room on the chassis for lipos, that is one of the reasons why i chose to convert a Jammin crt instead, maybe you have some better ideas on where to put stuff, it looked like a more challanging conversion to me. I am sure it can be done though, the new kyosho MP777ST-R would be a cool conversion too.

It's an option on their website. Look under where it says "Add to Cart", and you will see 2 options for taps, TP taps or Hyperion taps.
