My new project . . . I just gotta set this bad boy up - 04.21.2006, 01:44 AM

Here is the link to the truck that I just bought on ebay. As soon as I get it I'm gonna strip it and clean it, then work on figuring out how I am going to mount the brushless motor, controller, and where the batteries are going to go. I'm thinking about putting a nemesis 8L, or 8s motor with a 9920 controller. I just haven't decided for sure which motor to put in it. Any advice would be helpful. This will be my first "small" scale brushless project (My other project is a savage that is converted over to BL) So I'm not quite sure what the motor and controller set up is or how many batteries to run.

Thanks guys, Here is the link

How many cells do you want to run? For a motor on anywhere from 14-18 cells, how about an 8XL or a 9XL? The 8L would run very hot on any cell count, and the 8s simply isn't enough.

BTW, the Hellfire is the same scale as the Savage, it's just more race-bred.

It has a center diff and 3.31 diff ratio I believe. I think the 8L would have to much kv for it. I would suggest a 9xl or something.

O ok, I didn't know the hellfire is the same scale as the savage. I'm running a 9L in my savage with a 9920 controller on 14 cells and I like the power that it has. I will be better able to judge the number of cells that I want once I get it so I can see how much room I'm going to have for cells. But I think it will probably be like 12 to 14.

you will have PLENTY of room for cells. truggys are very long. if im not mistaken serum converted a hot bodies lightning stadium pro, same as i have, and he used a 8 cell stickpacks on each side with a xl motor.

I was looking at KV ratings for the different motors and I don't think I would want to run more than like 14 cells in it because of weight. I will be able to tell better when I get the truck and see how much room I have to work with. But I will definitely keep the page updated as to how it goes. I'm going to be making the motor mount and the battery hold downs out of composite materials from where I work. It's tensile strength is stronger than steel and weighs next to nothing.

Thanks for all the help guys

On 14 cells an 8XL would do.

here is the conversion i did on a lightning.

If it uses a steel spur, you need Mike to get you or a hardened pinion or a spur adaptor on the diff that holds a 51T plastic spur.

You might find this usefull too

I can only find a10xl in the nemesis motors, but I will just have to look around and compare some different things to see what I'm going to get. The truck should be here on Thrusday of next week.

The wanderers mike sells are the same as nemisis. Just has the 5.5 mm plugs on them for you.
