I've also read its hard to make one track-worthy, TBH its probably not worth trying.

I was on Radiocontrolzone.com, and I found like 5 T3, and 1 T2 for only $50. and the guy lives less than 45 mins from my house. He might have already sold it though.

3. steel top gear (already available to you).
4. FLM aluminum gearcase $65 (this keeps things tight, and acts as giant heatsink).
5. ball bearings throughout transmission.
6. steel output yokes or CVD's.
7. slipper pegs (not balls).
8. lithium grease (generous amount throughout transmission).

basically you are looking at a $200+ transmission to be completely bulletproof.

i have this setup in 2x of my rustlers, and 2x stampedes without the FLM case. you do notice quite a difference in noise with the FLM case - they are much quiter.

I have a Rustler with a Genesis Pro esc, Feigao 8s motor, running 8 GP3300 cells.

Mods:
FLM wide arms front and rear
FLM trans case
RPM ballbearing carriers front and rear
RPM Front Bumper
Ball bearings everywhere
Aluminum Idler
Moabs in the rear
Swami Wheelie Bar
Lithium Grease
slipper pegs
10000 weight oil in the diff, acts like a LSD.
Hitec 645mg steering servo
Paid $45 for the rustler stock.

no need for cvds or metal yokes as long as you have the kind of diff that takes the one long set screw instead of the two small ones. Also, my slipper is pretty much fully locked and I haven't even began to hurt the diff, I don't see the need for the SS diff gear.

Pops wheelies on command. Runs like a champs. Only problem is I can't keep the rear tires glued on for anything. If I get a little happy with the throttle, bye bye tires.

Super Short Video running 7 cells before the wheelie bar

I tend to stay away from used motor (unless brushless) and used batteries. If bidding on that, my max bid would be based on everything except the motors and batteries.

Im not really buying it for the batterys, or anything, but i can use them with the motors, wile im wailting for my other stuff to come in. The three main thing that are worth anything, are probably the bodies, radio, and the truck.

coo can't wait to see it...as far as rustlers being poor races you can do some mods that'll make them better suited for racing..and also you have to take into account the driver...if you're a good driver with even a descent setup you'll be able to keep up with t4's piloted by people who can't drive....i have seeen rustlers do well in stock class but not mod....they just don't handle that great compared to losi/associated

its not all traxxas'. the revos are without a doubt the best mt racetruck there is. the t-maxx or e, with some modifications are also very raceworthy.

yes a very well setup/piloted t-maxx can do some damage but revo handle very nice outta box...and yes rustlers can also do some damage but they take enough mods and will cost as much as getting a t4 id say but if you like being the underdog the rustler is a good place to start
