Another Lipo/motor Question regarding brushless REvo - 06.12.2006, 11:04 PM

Hey Guys.

I've decided the brushless revo is the key! lol so thats what I'm building. Not sure what motor choice I want. But I have the Warrior 9920 to connect it to.

So what would you suggest?

On that note which lipoly would you suggest?

My lipo range is no higher then $325 and please make it from maxamps.com with a link. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Based on this I can work on my chassis design with my center diff for the e-revo.

Thanks,
-RcBros

Why Maxamps? I don't that would be my first choice. Flight Power Evos are really good. For cheap batteries, when Truerc.com has some, there packs are pretty nice. Especially for the price. What kinda voltage are you thinking of? 4S? 5S? As for motors, what kind of price range?

How would a 10XL on 6s Lipo sound to you? You could get either two 3s 8000mah packs (4000mah cells) or two 3s 6000mah packs (3000mah cells). Both should/would work, but the 8000mah pack would obviously be more expensive.
Or, depending on your chassis balance, you could go with a 9XL on 5s Lipo, and have the 3s Lipo pack on the opposite side of the chassis from the motor to sort of counteract the weight of the motor on one side. The same cells/capacity apply.
Then you could get a Hyperion balancer (or two, depending on how you set up the batteries). You could get one balancer if you do what I did to my 4s pack (two 2s packs); wire one pack up with the balancing plug, and have plugs on the other balancing wires that plug into the other pack (kind of confusing, I know).

Sounds like a good setup to me. Thanks!

Your going to find some mix opinions on maxamps lipos. One member here had a bad experience which was handled properly and he kinda got screwed over. So their is alittle worry in getting their packs but hopefully I have better luck.

When you go for a direct drive, you may want a lower KV motor to compensate for the lower final gear ratio.... unless you come up with a way to use truggy diffs :010:

Maxamps look a good price but so do the FP: http://www.flightpower.com They have some really good quality packs for the price, shame about the capacites on most though.

EDIT: Yikes! Truerc look really good value, 80a discharge 8000mAh lipo for $100! :D Anyone had experience witih these?

The graph on the True RC cells is quite nice for the price! They should be in stock pretty soon.

I have a Maxamps 2s 6000mah pack (3000mah cells), and so far it runs well. Unfortunately I haven't been able to run it except for a couple of runs, but so far so good! It has stayed in balance well so far, too.

Assuming Revo diffs and Ofna spur, I would say an app 1000KV motor for 5S Lipo. Such as a Wanderer 15XL or 14XL.

But like I said elsewhere, the only real thing would be truggy diffs, only way you could run a motor in its efficient range. Anything else is only semi-optimal :027:

Does anyone know where can I buy the Flight Power Evo20 lipos?
Or if Mike can bring them to me?
How much does a 6s1p pack cost?

The name is Alawi. You can call me Al.
Nice to meet you!

Captain, check their website www.flightpower.co.uk
They ship worldwide, and on the site you will also find retailers, prices and all numbers you'll need.
Fast shipping and nice customer service.

You know the Apache packs that Mike sells? Those use the same cells as the Flightpower packs do (the 3700mah cells). Apache probably rates the cells conservatively at 15C because at a 20C continuous discharge the cells do get quite hot.
