wanderer 12s gearing - 06.27.2006, 04:17 PM

I have a 12s wanderer on a associated t2 and 12 cells, and it geared with a 65t spur, and a 18t pinion. After 10 minutes the motor gets so hot that if i touch it for like 1millisecond it burns my finger. the esc doesnt get hot at all. what size pinion should i use.

Also i thing i have the slipper to lose, but i cant tighten it anymore. WHen i accelerate hard, the motor spines really fast, but the tires dont spin very fast, and it makes a wierd sound. It took me about 250ft to get it up to 35 mph.

Part of the extra heat could be caused by the slipper unwinding. It's also possible that it's not the slipper unwinding, but the differential. If you can tighten the differential (assuming it's still okay) then you should see an improvement.

Your gearing might be alright. I don't know what the internal gear ratio is on the T2, but in my Rustler I gear the 12s (with 4s Lipo, not 12 cells) at 24/90.

If it's your diff there's usually a screw inside one of the outdrives. Check your manual. If it's your slipper and tightening it doesn't do anything, you need to get new bushings or washers in the slipper assembly.
