Lipo for Mamba Max - 07.24.2006, 11:29 AM

Hi Everybody!
Will like to get some Lipo for my Mamba Max 5700 on my MF stadium truck, but not sure which one.The Maxamps 6000 or 8000 sure looks tempting but do not know if their C discharge is the adequate one. Should I use only 20c batteries? How many amps draw this 5700 motor?Any advice?
Thanks:037:

You cant go by the C rating. It will vary with the packs capacity. Go with something around 60 amps cont. or more at least.

Well, you can't go by the C rating *alone*.

Psycho, C rating * (mAh of the pack)/1000 = amps the pack can deliver.

Sooooo, a 20C pack that is rated at 3000 mAh will give you 60A.

For what it's worth I just got a couple maxamps 6000 packs to run in my BL 1/8 and they have been awesome so far. The amp draw is similar to what you will have. It looks like I was using a little under 3000mah in a 7 minute heat plus hot laps... about a 25A draw. It's about the same as fast 1/10 stuff. Only time the batts got warm at all was in a 15 minute run. They got to 110 I think on a 90 degree day. That's not bad at all.

I have even run lower rated lipos that seem to do fine also. I have some 5C 4000mah cells that I have run in 8000 and 12000 configurations. I ran them in4s2p 8000mah in my 1/8 last saturday at the track for one run (less than 10 min) and they did fine.

Anyway, I am impressed with the maxamps 6000s.

I use a Maxamps 2s 6000mah Lipo with the Mamba Max in my Dark Impact (1/10 4wd buggy). The motor and speed control get to about 145-150 deg with a fan on the motor only, and the battery gets to a maximum of 100 deg. It's very well suited to the setup, especially considering that I can get 20mins or more of runtime (although I have yet to run continuously for that long).
