well i was considering picking up a feigao 3806t motor to run with the mamba max. i currentlly have the 7700 in the truck and was wondering how the 380-6t would push the truck. I am also wondering if it will take a 3s pack?
the specifics would be a modified t4 that currently weighs in a 2lb 15 oz, so its like driving the weight of a touring car.
so what do you guys think?

I ran a 380C-6L in my rustler on 3s and it overheated.... Quickly! I would think that the higher kv S can would be even worse.

3s on the 380-6t would be over 75K RPM. :026: I wouldnt do that.

Just go w/ the Mamba 5700 and 3s if thats what you are lookig for. CC says its ok, but even that sounds kinda extreme to me.

i dont really ave room to queeze in a 3s, but i am looking for something quick...i know the 7700 is fast, but i am wondering if the 380 would do anything to help. i have also heard the nue motor would be awesome..of course the price is considerably higher.

You won't gain anything by switching to a 380c 6t. It's a couple of ounces lighter, but that that amount of weight difference is negligible. The 7700 is probably more efficient anyway.

You're playing around with the relatively low end motors, which are kind of apples to oranges as long as the stay cool. If you want to try something different, grab a neu. I'm sure that would be a rocket.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Mamba Max series motors are 540 designed, so the 380 will spool up faster, and if its in a stadium truck that isn't running moabs it should be better. I think mamba motors are of a little nicer quality though. Why not try a lehner basic, very light, small, and efficient.

I would not do the 6t on 3s, simply a waste. Maybe a 7 or 8t.

basically i dont want to drop 200+ on a motor only. the truck has a huge mechanical advantage over prolly any oher stdium truck out there so i can usually run with less and beat someone with more. so that is to say i can take my 'relatively low end motors' and toast me some lehners/ hackers, etc when run in a stadium truck on same voltage.

I don't think it is fair to call the Mamba Max motors low-end.
The rotors in these motors aren't actually full 540 size, but if I remember correctly SpEEdyBL pointed out that it's between a 400 and 540 size. I doubt that the difference between spool up times between a 400 size and a 540 size rotor would be noticeable in a stadium truck unless you're a pro racer that can feel that sort of thing.

I think it's a misconception that a 380 will spool up faster than a 540 size (in a car under acceleration, both geared properly etc) ... the difference in the weight of the rotors is insignificant compared to the total amount of work the motor is doing... the drivetrain... tires.. etc plus the fact that it has to move the weight of the whole car let's not forget.

It's a complete mythg that a 380 is snappier than a 540 IMO... if you can't get over the weight of the rotor... consider the fact that the 540 does have more horsepower on tap so I think it can handle the extra couple of grams it has to move.

I'm sure many will swear there is a difference etc... I believe the reason behind the difference observed lies elsewhere, such as the batteries. The 540 will demand more from the batteries and if the batteries strain to keep up then it will feel sluggish. The 380 probably doesn't hit as hard so the battery keeps up and bingo.... snappy acceleration.

Something to chew on....

And the Mamba motors are not low end... I agree.

I have not tried the mamba motors, I do place them above feigao. Personally I won't buy another feigao after using Lehner and my latest Mini Mamba motor. The basic motors are really nice for the size, and very light, but if you must you must. The mamba 5400 on 3s should be enough to outrun anything (especially since your truck is already so light)
