well, took it out for another run under parking lot lights.. i'm trying my hardest to get video.. it appears that imovie '06 isn't compatible w/ my ibook :'(
looking for an older version now.
the 2speed assembly that i'm using as a 1speed.. doesn't work anymore lol.
i had the 2 shoes tightened in the "bell" that the spurs mounted on, and the grub screw holes are stripped out in the shoes.. I bought some perma-bond stuff that's supposedly 4x as strong as super glue, and tried that, but it broke free after about 4 minutes.
I'm guessing alot of the speed loss is batteries, but also, I put the 45t spur on, along w/ the 20t pinion.. (removed the mechanical brake, because i don't have a servo for it anyways..) so I guess either epoxy the 2speed, or just get a lightweight adapter made up., then it'll be back on the road..
top speed thus far is 48.5mph according to the Garmin Etrex..
btw, is 66c/110p amps enough for this? lipo can't come soon enough, and i just want to be 100% sure.. 5s lipo will be less voltage than what i'm supposedly getting now (i know amp draw plays a factor), but i'm under 40,000 rpm.. I don't have any other gearing options, so perhaps I should be looking for a different motor? around 3000kv instead of 2000kv, would put me at 55k.. higher than you monster guys like to run, but this car is only 6lbs.. so .. ?
hmm, just noticed my 540c 9l that i've yet to use.. 3345kv will be a fun test.. not a permenant motor, but i'll give it a run or two to see where it runs mph wise. just need some female 3.5mm plugs.

Im still thinking the batteries are the main source of your speed loss.

BTW: For Windows users who don't have (or don't want to have) Quicktime, you can use QuickTime Alternative, which basically uses MP8 with a codec.

or.. if you want a big download (105mb).. w/ not noticably better quality.. http://041206.com/xr8-xh.avi
I've got too much bandwidth to kill haha.
it's not so hard to stop.. i'm just not used to it at all.. front one way = completely different driving style than alltime 4wd. I found some lipos that will fit, but are too wide for my battery tray.. it'll fit, but won't fit "in" the pocket. I may get another tray made sooner than i expected, but not sure.
I'm charging the packs again, and re-super glued the 2speed's shoes to the spur's "bell".. since speed isn't where I'd like to see it at the moment, I'm going to wrap some electrical tape (1 piece wide) around the center of the rear tires and try out some drifting tommorow at lunch. i'll keep you updated.

Yeah, shore 20 tires would help too...
48.5mph with these cells is rather poor, but it are the cells, no doubt.. Too bad you don't have got an eagletree..
As a refference;
in my mugen converted buggy, i reached 44.9 mph on 14 cells (gp3300's) and it was NOT geared for speed.. In fact, the motor was doing nothing, because it wasn't even near it's loaded RPM... I did the speedcalculation thing, and according to that, it should do less than 40 mph.. So i guess i can gear it a tad higher. Too bad my motorplate isn't ready for a bigger pinion.. Back to the drawing board... Again, cells are the key to the power/speed!

ok, so once again.. which cells are my best bet? that's the only step remaining on this car..
there's maxamps, truerc, and the evo-20 cells I'm looking at..
I think two TrueRC 5s2p 8000mah packs would be my best bet.. 160a/240a, and 16,000mah. that'd be about $375..
two EVO 3700mAh 5S1P packs would give me 148a/222a/370a and 7,400mah for $470
or two MaxAmps Lipoly 6000mah 5S2p.. 180a/240a, and 12,000mah for about $400
so looks like truerc's are the best bet?
