Ideas on homemade wheelie bars (no wing) - 10.18.2006, 02:33 PM

I want a wheelie bar on my e-revo, but I don't have the cash right now to purchase one, and I don't want a wing on my truck. Anyone have some ideas? 'Preciate it.

I know you specifically said you didn't want a wing, but I think that's the best option IMO.

I've tried two commercially available (not home-made) different 6061 3mm thick Aluminum wheelie bars and both bent. If you happen to land with the front a little too high up, they'll bend every time. Personally, I think a wheelie bar with some flex would be good - either make it out of RPM-type plastic or even relatively thin spring steel. The idea is to allow a little give instead of bending or breaking.

I can send you my bent wheelie bar as a template if you want. You'll just need to get wheels and some spacers. The bar mounts over ther rear skidplate. But since the screws are not flush with the stock skid plate, you need spacers between the screw hole and the wheelie bar, and then screw it into the stock holes using longer CS screws.

The easier 'wheeliebar' i ever made was from 10X10mm nylon stock.. made it like a V and hooked the outer to ends of the V onto a few screws that hold the skid to the bulk.. (this was with a savage)

I hate the way a wing looks, but it won't serve my purpose anyway. I'm gonna have to run my 40 buck atomik body some, and I have to keep grass and stuff from catching it, and keep the "tailgate" from scrubbing against asphalt and such.

and a wheelie bar template would be great!

I'm having difficulty imagining this on a revo, but I'll go inspect the revo and mull it over.
