Angry Burnt Spur/Slipper Replacement Question - 05.17.2005, 04:27 PM

I just went for the first run with my new feiago 8L and 9918 in e-maxx. It was making a squealing noise so i pulled it over and the spur gear was smoking! It has a hole burnt through it where the slipper is. I had it all the way tightened down(is that ok?)
So what I was wondering is what a good replacement would be for the spur gear and slipper. Should I get the dual disc slipper from robinson racing?

and what is this mod 1 pinion thing I hear about?
Thanks

Well I guess that is a first for me - i've never seen that before - i've seen melted gears but not the slipper burn thru - are you sure you had it completely tightened? - Wow -

If your slipper was cranked down, then the slipper pegs were worn away. When I used the stock slipper, I used 12 pegs and cranked it for all she was worth. Never had a problem with this. The robinson slipper is OK, but it is a little inconsistent and the spur gears are a little soft. Ifg you want to upgrade slippers, I would go with a strobe, which uses mod 1 gears.

I put a new spur on and tightened it down all the way and its running great now. It must have been loose when it happened. Thanks
