Charging Problem

I have a duratrax pulse charger and when I charge mt 7 cell IB4200 only one peaks at 8.5 and the other one is at 9.2 and it didnt peak. Whay is this? Do I need a discharger? Like the Deans one.

A 7 cell pack should peak higher than 8.5v so something smells funny... a good 6 cell pack usually peaks around 9v give or take.

What did the "9.2v" pack peak at? I'd guess 10-10.5v?

The that "peaked" at 8.5 likely just false peaked and there's nothing wrong with it. Was it warm?

I've noticed that brand new IB packs tend to false peak the first couple charges... so if these are new I wouldnt be concerned yet.

First couple charges may work better at a lower amp rating.

First charge new cells with 1/10th c, then discharge them with 1C and easy charge them with 1 C next..

I have a duratrax intellipeak so its looked at 3.5a. Its weired I cheacked them before I put them on the charger and they were at 9.1 and 9.2, about five minutes later I cheacked them one says it peaked and it was at 8.6 and the other was at 9.1.

So a discharger would help me? How a deans bulb discharger do?

Also I charged them for like an hour and only one peaked like 15min in? The other didnt peak?

Something is wrong there... run them dead and try another charge cycle.

If you have a voltmater, check the voltage of each cell... while resting, charging and discharging if possible to look for bad cells or out-of-balance cells.

What you describe doesn't compute... so keep messin with it....

well its a stick pack so I cant do that. I dont have a discharger but will this help?

Actually, you can still measure the voltage across each cell. Take the outer heatshrink off insert a thin "electrode" between the cells.

Your not supposed to discharge NiMH.

why not? What can i do to solve this problem?
