Brakes are fair easy on electric vehicles. The motor is somewhat shorted; the higher the winds on the motor, the higher the internal resistance (goes for BL and brushed)
This is where gearing comes around the corner.
The motor is not completely shorted; in fact, when you brake, the energy is stored back in the batteries; so the lower the internal resistance of the batteries the harder a vehicle can brake. the taller the gearing; the harder a vehicle can brake.
